New Delhi has one of the largest international airports of India. The Palam Domestic Airport and the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) are located at 20km south-west of Delhi. The city has representation of almost all airlines of the world. Many major international airlines have regular direct flights to New Delhi. Domestic airlines operate daily flights to all major cities of the country from the domestic terminal.
By Rail:
Indian Railways is the main mode of transportation to different parts of India. Indian railways, with its new look and organized network are being preferred by the tourists as well. New Delhi is the headquarters of Northern Railway and well connected to all the major cities in India through a wide network of railways. You can board a train from any place in India. Railway Station in New Delhi include New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station and Hazarat Nizamuddin Railway Station. Luxury trains like Fairy Queen, Palace on Wheels and Royal Orient Express depart from the Delhi Cantonment Railway Station. Other luxury trains like Rajdhani Express and Shatabadi Express leave the New Delhi Railway Station to major destinations across India.
By Road:
New Delhi city is well connected to all the major cities and other neighboring states through an excellent road network. Interstate buses operate at regular intervals from 3 major inter state bus terminal. Many private operators are available for domestic and interstate transportation.
Delhi Metro:
Delhi Metro is a world-class metro. To ensure reliability and safety in train operations, it is equipped with the most modern communication and train control system. It has state-of-art air-conditioned coaches. Ticketing and passenger control are through Automatic Fare Collection System, which is introduced in the country for the first time. Traveling in Delhi Metro is a pleasure with trains ultimately available at three minutes frequency. Entries and exits to metro stations are controlled by flap-doors operated by 'smart-cards' and contact less tokens. For convenience of commuters, adequate numbers of escalators are installed at metro stations.
